The Brief
What the customer asked for
the challenge
What the room required
Coordinating bedrooms across different uses requires holding the design language quiet enough that both rooms work — adult restraint in the principal, durability and adaptability in the child's room. The child's wardrobe needed adjustable interiors so it would still be useful in five years.
The Solution
Principal bedroom
Full-height fitted wardrobes along the long wall in soft white painted, oak interior. Long-hang, doubled short-hang, three-drawer bank, shoe storage at the base of one end-bay.
Child's bedroom
A single fitted wardrobe with the hanging rail at child height, plus adjustable shelves above. The rail is on a moveable carriage so it can be raised in 100mm increments as the child grows. A chest of drawers and a built-in desk with shelving complete the room.
Shared finish
Both rooms use the same soft white painted door, the same brushed-brass cup-pull handles and the same warm oak interior. The two rooms read as part of one family scheme.
Materials & Detailing
Soft white painted, oak interior, brushed-brass cup pulls. Identical across both rooms.
How it lives
The principal handles the full adult wardrobe with the dressing routine quietly absorbed. The child's room is a properly planned bedroom rather than a cot-with-storage, and the wardrobe will adapt as the child grows.
