Fitted Bedroom and Walk-In for an Esher Family Home
This Esher detached family home principal bedroom was generous enough to accommodate a compact walk-in dressing space alongside fitted bedroom wardrobes. The owners wanted both: the wardrobes for daily-use storage in the bedroom, and the walk-in for hanging space and dressing.

The Brief
What the customer asked for
Fitted wardrobes along the long bedroom wall in cashmere matt finish, and a compact walk-in (about 1.8m by 2.2m) at one end of the room with hanging on three walls and a low chest of drawers on the fourth.

the challenge
What the room required
Combining fitted wardrobes in the bedroom with a walk-in requires holding a single finish language across two adjoining spaces. The challenge was making the walk-in entry read as part of the wardrobe elevation rather than as a separate door, and balancing the storage between the two spaces.
The Solution
ZONE 1
Bedroom fitted wardrobes
Full-height cashmere matt wardrobes along the long wall. Doubled short-hang, drawer banks, dedicated shoe storage. Recessed finger-pull profile at the top edge of each door.

ZONE 2
Compact walk-in
Walk-in entry through a single door at one end of the run, identical finish to the wardrobe doors. Inside: hanging on three walls, low chest of drawers on the fourth, dressing mirror on the back of the entry door.
ZONE 3
Coordinated lighting
Warm LED strip in both bedroom wardrobes and walk-in, triggered by door movement. Consistent colour temperature throughout.

THE FINISH
Cashmere matt doors, warm oak interior, recessed finger-pull profile. Identical across the bedroom wardrobes and the walk-in.
THE RESULT
The owners have both daily storage in the bedroom and a quiet dressing space behind the walk-in door. The two spaces read as part of one suite. The walk-in entry disappears into the wardrobe elevation when closed.
